HOME - Jamestown October 2003    Back   Next Dave in a grape vine tangle
On Sunday Pete, Sue, Betsy and I all had breakfast at Chris and Dave's. Then we headed northwest to Cattaraugus County to see the wonders of the the Zoar Valley. What took us there was our quest for old growth forest as documented in Bruce Kershner's book "Guide to the Ancient Forests of the Zoar Valley Canyon", which is apparently out of print. Chris navigated and we ended up at the parking area of the Nature Conservancy's Deer Lick Preserve We hiked the "White Trail" which is 3.3 miles one way. Just a short distace from the parking area we came across this awesome tangle of grape vines, Vitus lambusca.
