This is a list of sovereign states and other territories by population, estimated for the year 2005. For a graphical version of this list, see List of countries by population (graphical).

Only the 191 United Nations member states, plus the Republic of China (Taiwan), Vatican City, and Western Sahara are numbered; other territories and intergovernmental blocs are included for purposes of comparison.
