Valley View is a village located in Cuyahoga County, Ohio. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 2,179. It is a primarily residential suburb of Cleveland with a town council form of government. It is part of a school district also including nearby Cuyahoga Heights and Brooklyn Heights. Its name refers to the Cuyahoga_river valley, and the town includes part of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park and the Ohio and Erie Canal.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 14.6 km² (5.6 mi²). 14.6 km² (5.6 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.

Demographics

As of the census2 of 2000, there are 2,179 people, 779 households, and 634 families residing in the village. The population density is 149.4/km² (386.9/mi²). There are 794 housing units at an average density of 54.5/km² (141.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 98.26% White, 0.32% African American, 0.05% Native American, 0.69% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.37% from other races, and 0.32% from two or more races. 0.50% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 779 households out of which 34.0% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 70.9% are married couples living together, 7.8% have a female householder with no husband present, and 18.6% are non-families. 16.4% of all households are made up of individuals and 6.8% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.80 and the average family size is 3.16.

In the village the population is spread out with 24.0% under the age of 18, 7.6% from 18 to 24, 23.8% from 25 to 44, 30.7% from 45 to 64, and 14.0% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 42 years. For every 100 females there are 99.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 95.2 males.

The median income for a household in the village is $64,063, and the median income for a family is $71,080. Males have a median income of $50,521 versus $32,589 for females. The per capita income for the village is $26,560. 3.1% of the population and 2.8% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 4.3% of those under the age of 18 and 3.3% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
