Little is known about the biographical details of Bob Fuller's life, but he was a very prolific sideman throughout the early and mid-1920s in the New York jazz scene. He toured and recorded with Mamie Smith's Jazz Hounds in the early part of the decade and then worked with Louis Hooper, Tom Morris and Elmer Snowden. His clarinet and saxophone is heard on a great many of the Classic Blues singers' records, including some by Bessie Smith. In the late 1920s he led his own band at the 125th Street Dance Hall in New York. He left the music business and worked for the Police Department. He released several records under the pseudonyms of Slim Perkins and Slim Jenkins. |
