Paddy Harmon's Dreamland Ballroom was located on the Near West Side of Chicago at the intersection of Paulina and Van Buren streets. Paddy Harmon's was a large commercial ballroom/roller skating rink which catered to young working-class whites, and had a generally squeaky-clean reputation. Doc Cooke was the conductor and musical director of the Orchestra at Paddy Harmon's from 1922 to 1927. The band also recorded under the names of Cookie's Gingersnaps and Doc Cook and his 14 Doctors of Syncopation.
