Violinist Charles Elgar left New Orleans in 1913 and moved to Chicago. He organized several bands that played in and around the Chicago area in the 1920s. These recordings are of the band that he led at the Wisconsin Roof Gardens in Milwaukee from 1925 to 1927 and they were really quite swinging. The cornet team is thought to be Joe Sudler and Emmanuel Perez and if that is the case, then these are the only known recordings of New Orleans cornet legend Manuel Perez.
