Volunteers Needed For Important Public Meetings

By Sue Klein

Recently, VCPORA and FQCP members met to begin organizing a telephone tree and mobilization committee for the purpose of attending public Zoning and City Council meetings when topics of French Quarter concern are on the agenda. The group met to address major concerns with the City's Master Plan (Rampart Corridor) and Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance and Maps (more live entertainment and ABO's throughout the FQ).

Now this group is looking for volunteers who will agree to call four persons to attend these City meetings. Not all Zoning and Council meetings will require attendance, so volunteers will only be notified when necessary. BUT, when you are called, it will be imperative that you call your four contacts and for everyone to make their best attempt to attend the meeting.
The CZO will be presented to the City Council in December. From that date, there will be only 120 days to change the current problems as they relate to our French Quarter. The only recognized mechanism to accomplish this is through attendance at these meetings!!!

Anyone willing to help with this should contact Pat Henican who is organizing the list. We would like at least 40 more volunteers. Pat may be reached at 523-4080 or Phenican@aol.com
