New Rules For Walking Tours

A new city ordinance is in the works governing the size and hours that walking tours may operate in the Quarter. Councilmember Jackie Clarkson reports that she received an equal amount of complaints from businesses and residents regarding large, noisy groups late into the evening. After much discussion with many different parties, including major tour companies, nearly 100% agreement was reached setting a limit of 28 guests per tour group and 10 pm as the time tours must be completed, with a possible exception of Halloween. Violations of these limitations would be handled by the police.

Meanwhile, Jesse Bridges of the Taxicab Bureau is creating a set of policies and procedures for tour guides to follow, such as guides wearing their name badges and guests not leaning on buildings. Infractions of these policies would be handled by the Taxicab Bureau. Citizens are encouraged to note possible violations and inform the proper authority.
