Adoption Made Easy By Jack Pruitt and Roberta Grove To promote and strengthen positive and productive one-on-one relationships between the Eighth District New Orleans Police Department and members of French Quarter Citizens for Preservation, French Quarter Citizens is proud to announce Adopt-A-Cop, a program unlike any other in the city. It has been said "When all is said and done, there is a lot more said than done." However, now is our chance to stand up to the plate and let our appreciation be known to those men and women who help make our neighborhood a better and safer place to live. Individuals, families or groups of individuals not to exceed six (6) persons and who are members of French Quarter Citizens may either select or be assigned and "adopt" an officer who reports to Captain Louis Dabdoub, Commander of the Eighth District. Beginning in June, persons who adopt an officer will be encouraged for a period of one (1) year to communicate and support the officer by showing appreciation periodically through one or more of the following ways:
Monetary gifts are not allowed. Throughout the year, your cards, letters and gifts may be mailed or dropped off to Lieutenant Bernardine Kelly at 334 Royal Street. Members of the "Adoption Committee" are Jack Pruitt, Roberta Grove, Carmen Carter and Daryl Glorioso. It is so very important that you as a citizen participate. This is our chance to not only say thanks, but to also show others, including city officials and members of the press, that we as citizens are dedicated to helping make the French Quarter the best that it can be. Please call (504) 722-3595 to get your "Adoption Papers." |
