FQCP Members Receive Awards
Three of our members recently were honored for their services to the
community.
Gary Chenett received the "Rookie of the Year" Award from the
Friends of the Cabildo for his volunteer work there. He completed their tour
guide class and has been volunteering at the 1850 House, handling courtyard and
home tours, and helping at book signings and fundraisers. Last Halloween he
acted as Jean Lafitte in their Ghostly Galavant Tours.
Sandra Dartus, Executive Director of French Quarter Festivals Inc.,
accepted one of the six 2003 Mayor's Arts Awards in behalf of FQFI, which has
organized the French Quarter Festival for the last 20 years and has recently
added the Satchmo Summerfest to its annual event calendar.
Lee Tucker, a Jackson Square Artist for the last 32 years, also received a
2003 Mayor's Arts Award. Besides donating his artwork and talents to various
civic organizations over the years, Lee has helped inner city children,
encouraging their artistic development and expression.
