• Born on October 15, 1954 at Langley Air Force Base in Virginia during Hurricane Carol
• Moved with my parents and twin brother Martin to Laurel Mississippi at the age of 6 months.
• Graduated from R.H. Watkins High School in Laurel
• Attended the University of Mississippi Majoring in Pre-Med
• Attended University of Southern Mississippi Majoring in Computer Technology
• Served Honorably in the US Navy and Received the American Spirit Honor Medal
• Served in the Persian Gulf during the Iranian Hostage Crisis
• Moved to the Coast and Founded Burton Computer Services in 1982
• Married Teresa Maddox Burton in 1991. Teresa has a Ph.D. in Educational Administration, is an Administrator with the Pass Christian School District and an Adjunct Professor at USM.
“When I moved to the Emerald Coast in 1982, I founded Burton Computer Services to provide on-site technical services to businesses and residents. For over 23 years I have contracted with many companies including Mississippi Power, Hancock Bank, Gulf Coast Research Lab, Taber Extrusions, Alcan Aluminum, Gulf Coast Business Services, The WinJobCenter, Stennis Space Center, Coast School Districts and hundreds of other businesses as well as countless Coast residents at their homes. I have been a resident of Long Beach for over 18 years.”
