The put-in is at Riverfront Park which also serves as an access point for the Youghiogheny River Rail Trail.
It was a beautiful day - low humidity and in the high 70s/low 80s. A nice change from the oppressive humidity and 90 degree temps we had been experiencing.
Although this trestle still had ties in place I could not determine if it was still in use or not.
There was a well worn trail going up the river bank to the bridge. On that day it was being used by a couple teenagers who were diving of the trestle. Not a good idea.This is the ruins of the old Schenley Distillery. One of the few structure of any kind we saw.
The crumbling remains of a suspension bridge which went to the distillery.
For our lunch spot we chose the remains of this trestle foundation.
The old cut sandstone blocks made a good place to pull up the boats.
Although the lighting was not the best for picture taking it made for some great scenery - verdant river banks and big puffy clouds, a perfect summer day.
After lunch we headed just a short ways down river to the take-out at Dawson. Another great day on the water!
