This shot, taken from the launch area and parking lot looks south into the clear and quite waters of the Wacissa River.
Before I put my boat in I got out of the car to take a look around. As I stood at the waters edge I caught movement out the corner of my eye.
Turning my head slowly to the right I could see a River Otter leisurely swimming along the shoreline. It flowed around a big cypress like the water itself.
It continued to move my way until is was directly in front to me - not more than 8 feet away. I remained motionless as it turned it's head toward me. We made steady eye contact. In no hurry it focused back on the task at hand and headed off into deeper water and disappeared. WOW!
My camera? Back in the car.
