Saturday afternoon Time 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM. Fitzimons Hospital area at Star-K ranch (Richardson's Grove Aurora, Colo). Ten in party from Colorado Bird Club

Weather - warm ,very slightly overcast otherwise sunny.

It might be added this trip covered the Upper Sonoran Zone or Plains Region where one finds the Yucca & cacti merging into the Prairie Stream bottom association of cottonwoods willows and cattails.

Our quest was in search of owls which proved unsuccessful. However Mr. Stark the land owner claims that he had observed the Horned Owl & Barn Owl the very day we were on his property.

Two day field trip with L. E. Hicks that covered seven counties (Franklin, Madison,Piskaway,Pike, Fayette,Ross and Highland) in the prairies regions and southern hills region of Ohio.

The abundance of water and migration time kept one on the alert for both waterfowl and passerine birds. The weather was rain and windy with repeated showers of snow that gave way to intermittent periods of sunshine.

Warbler seen - about 5 in. long. Grayish upper-parts with pronounced white wing bars. Underparts buffy with two streaked lines along either sides. Underside of tail black tipped. White line over eye.

Song had vireo like quality-at times-then again would be high pitched and similar to the opening notes of the Ruby-crowned Kinglet and other times had the rhythm of the Caerulean Warbler.

Warblers in fall plumage make it extremely difficult for identification. Those on the foregoing list resembled the males of such named warblers as they look in spring migration.
