"KIDS 'N
ART" |
|
||
| Kids 'N Art was
the brainchild of Linda Puckett in 1984. Later Jean Davenport joined
in the effort to show kids the value and pleasure of art in their lives.
Classes are taught once a week in Post and once a week in neighboring Tahoka. Kids from 5 to 15 participate with an average of 13 kids in each class. The Kids 'N Art has their own Art Show every year. The kids work in the Art Show, entering and hanging the art. The contest is strictly judged with the same attention as given to adult shows. In 1999 the Kids 'N Art expanded to the
Juvenile Detention Center for summer workshops to open up the world of art
to the inmates. One inmate said, "I may just
come back to take art." |
