Meet our Head Chef, Mark Shelton
Mark Shelton has been working at Tanque Verde Ranch since the winter of 1979. Prior to arriving here at the ranch, he worked in Minnesota as Head Chef at the Edina Country Club. No wonder he is so happy here in Tucson - No More Snow!!
Mark trained at Hennepin County Vocational School in Eden Prairie, Minnesota. He always cooked around the house when he was younger and eventually realized that he was pretty good at it, so he decided to pursue it as a career. To quote Mark, "It sure beats having a real job!" He really enjoys working with sauces, and says he likes working at the ranch because, "The owners appreciate me and are very good to me, and the benefits here are some of the best offered in all of Arizona."
Needless to say, the ranch is lucky to have him around, as all our full and happy guests can confirm!!
And congratulations are in order to Chef Mark. He was voted Southern Arizona Chef of the Year for 2004... but, we already knew we had the best all along. Good work and keep the great food coming!!!
