.it is the Internet country code top-level domain (ccTLD) for Italy.
Because it is also the english word it, it is commonly used in the construction of domain hack domain names.
There are a number of reserved second-level domain names, for example domain names like italy.it or other names that are referring to geographical regions of Italy.
- gov.it is the official governmental domain, and its use is increasing rapidly.
A * edu.it domain has been investigated, but its proposal was never formalized.
