Category:Popes
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.
The term "Pope" is used in several churches to denote their high spiritual leaders. This list refers only to the Catholic or Roman Catholic church, whose supreme head also bears the title "Patriarch of the West"
Note on numbering of popes: There has never been a Pope John XX, Pope Martin II or Pope Martin III. The most common names are John (last: XXIII), Gregory (XVI), Benedict (XVI), Clement (XIV), Innocent (XIII), and Leo (XIII). Read Pope Stephen II on the numbering of his successors with the same name.
