Council for National Academic Awards
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.
The Council for National Academic Awards (CNAA) was a degree awarding authority, from the 1965, in the United Kingdom until 1992. The council awarded academic degrees at the polytechnics and other similar institutions until these were awarded university status. When the council was wound-up the British Government asked the Open University to continue the work of awarding degrees in non-university institutions, additionally the university has responsibility for the former councils records.
