National Insurance Academy was developed for insurance sector in India by the joint effort of Government of India, Ministery of Finance, Public sector insurance Companies like Life Insurance Corporation of India (http://www.licindia.com) (LIC), General Insurance Corporation of India (http://www.gicofindia.com) (GIC), New India Assurance (http://www.niacl.com) , Oriental India Insurance (http://www.orientalinsurance.nic.in) , United India Insurance ( http://www.uiic.co.in) and National Insurance Company (http://www.nationalinsuranceindia.com) . It expanded its activities to private, joint and foreign sectors.

2.1 FAIR: Now it is the insurance educational advisor to FAIR (http://www.fair.org.eg) (Federation of Afro-Asian Insurers and Reinsurers)
2.2 National Insurance Academy (http://www.niapune.com) is situated in Pune, India. It is a capacity builder in Insurance Sector founded in 1980; celebrating Silver Jubilee in 2005.

But real development of the academy started in 1999 with joining of Dr K C Mishra as the Director. The academy is now an integrated management school with training, education, publications, research, consultancy and regulatory advisory services. Life insurance, General Insurance, Reinsurance, Health Insurance, Crop Insurance, Credit Insurance, Pension, Actuarial Services, Insurance Investment, Developing Insurance Institutions and leadership for succession planning and Insurance regulatory compliance are the comprehensive fields of insurance covered by the academy. Dr Mishra has developed 7A framework for insurance organizational structure, 7P framework for insurance underwriting structure and 7E framework for insurance value structure. Apart from the mother institution NIA, the academy houses its own MBA program as NIASOM, Executive MBA Program as NIASEE, producer Development program as NIASPD, Pension research program as NIAPRI and NIA is also the statutory examining body for insurance brokers.
