Pickford

I hope you don't mind, but I replaced your photo of Mary Pickford with an improved one and put your June 2003 one up for speedy deletion. - Ted Wilkes 17:01, 1 October 2005 (UTC)

I really wish you hadn't speedy deleted it. Like many images I upload, that was scanned from vintage paper sources in my own collection. (As yet I don't know if any of my vintage paper collection still exists.) What ever happened to moving old illustrations to the article talk page when a new one was uploaded? I liked that practice. Moving images to the Commons is also often a good option. Cheers, -- Infrogmation 10:21, 2 October 2005 (UTC)
And for that matter, what Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion did that qualify under? Puzzled, -- Infrogmation 11:12, 2 October 2005 (UTC)

My only concern was quality. I'm not sure how a poor quality image coming from a "vintage collection" is relevant here, but I regret if my sincere effort to enhance and improve the Mary Pickford article offended you. And, I labelled it for "Speedy" deletion as it has no other value that I could attest to. However, for whatever reason you certainly may change it to something that pleases you. - Ted Wilkes 14:00, 2 October 2005 (UTC)

I think if you will review the above link, the fact that Wikipedia now has a different, better illustration is as far as I can see NOT a criteria for speedy deletion! One may list it for deletion, but speedys are very specific cases. Please be more careful in the future; deleting information that may have been unique to Wikipedia and possibly may no longer be accessible in any format anywhere else without allowing time for consideration or discussion is IMO inappropriate. -- Infrogmation 05:11, 3 October 2005 (UTC)

RE: Meetup

I hope you find the Live Music Capital of the World to your liking. I made a post on this page that did not recieve a response, and I'd like one as soon as convenient. Here is the big question: Would you mind if a set up the meet up as tentatively in Marshall? I think some people in nearby Longview may be interested in helping set things up. I'd create a subpage in my userspace and move it to meetups when we know more, I wouldn't want it to become one of those embarassing neglected request on the page. Thanks. -JCarriker 16:07, August 20, 2005 (UTC)

Bonjour mon ami. Puis-je demander que vous repondrez s'il vous plait. Merci. -JCarriker 23:48, 29 October 2005 (UTC)
Feel free to put a link to any page about regional meetups on my talk page. As I'm still currently worrying about such things as finding someone willing/able to patch large holes in the roof of the house I'm living in (after nearly a month), planning for travels is still something I'm not committing to at present. -- Infrogmation 04:47, 4 November 2005 (UTC)

Welcome home

Glad to see you're back in New Orleans. –Hajor 23:21, 10 October 2005 (UTC)

Ditto. I noticed you're back contributing somewhat regularly, so I assume/hope things are beginning to settle down for you again, and that there is some stability, comfort and joy for you once again in NO. Peace 2 u. deeceevoice 21:52, 12 October 2005 (UTC)

Barrison Sisters

Hello, I am trying to track down a high resolution copy of the famous photo of the Barrison sisters you posted (kittens in their laps). From what I can gather, this photo is in the public domain, and not part of some family archive or what not. I would appreciate any advice you might have regarding how I could get a better resolution pic. Thanks, User:Casseyk (Sorry, I"m new to this and don't know how to code my user name properly)

I fixed the link for you. In the future just add 4 tildes (~) in a row and it puts your sig and the date automatically.Ooops, it looks like you havn't logged in and edited under that user name. You need to log in to get a user name page and talk page. Drop me a note after you take care of that; I think I can find the source PD book. Cheers, -- Infrogmation 05:05, 20 October 2005 (UTC)

Hey, I made a user name and talk page. Thanks! Casseyk 19:59, 20 October 2005 (UTC)

1947 Fort Lauderdale Hurricane

Do you have sources for the stuff you added here? You say the hurricane did $100million in damage to New Orleans, but the total damages for the storm are given as $110 million. So what gives? Jdorje 18:11, 22 October 2005 (UTC)

It was mostly from 3 or 4 websites. I'm not sure which one I got that figure from, but the same number of $100 million is quoted at http://www.globalsecurity.org/security/ops/hurricane-risk-new-orleans.htm and I know I've seen it elsewhere. Good catch that those two figures don't seem to jibe; perhaps they're estimates from different sources. BTW, I suspect whatever figure of New Orleans is probably for the whole Metro area; folks who remember it say suburban Jefferson Parish got much more damage than the city proper-- it flooded there, while the levees held in the city in '47. Maybe more research to determine just where both monitary figures were from and what they specifically refer to would be good to improve the article. Cheers, -- Infrogmation 02:29, 24 October 2005 (UTC)

Barrison Sisters Question

Hey Infrogmation. Just wondering if you found any source books for the Barrison Sister pic. I've got a page up. Thanks! -- Casseyk 00:45, 27 October 2005 (UTC)

I added that info to Image:BarrisonPussy.JPG. (Back when I first uploaded it, for some reason it was not common practice to mention the PD era book things were scanned from, which is why I didn't at the time.) Cheers, -- Infrogmation 23:38, 29 October 2005 (UTC)

Image:Domitian.JPG

You insert PD in this image, can you explain why? There are some more images like that and none of it is public domain. --Saperaud 17:52, 29 October 2005 (UTC)

Sorry, I fear I don't reall at present. Possibly it was the tag on the .it version at the time, or similar to other images uploaded at the time? By and large I tend to be conservative about retagging others' uploads as PD. If you suspect it is a problem image, I have no contradictory evidence, sorry. Cheers, -- Infrogmation 23:25, 29 October 2005 (UTC)
same problem at Image:Pompeygr.JPG. Please try to clear these licenses, tag them as unlicensed or get them deleted (about 20 of them are at en, some in other wikipedia, 2 in commons). --Saperaud 00:24, 31 October 2005 (UTC)
If you wish to second guess my call on images I didn't upload that don't have a specific sources listed, I have no objection to your tagging them "no source" or what you think best. Is there anything else you need of me? Cheers, -- Infrogmation 02:36, 31 October 2005 (UTC)
I was wondering about [1] and [2]. Copyright issues should be taken very serious. --Saperaud 04:45, 31 October 2005 (UTC)
Heh, yes, I do take copyright issues very seriously-- I used to be very active in WP:PUI and WP:CP when I had more time to devote to Wikipedia. Looking at these images, I see they were uploaded by User:Isis, who was notorious for not giving sources. I recall discussion some time back about what to do; I took care of listing a few hundred Isis images on WP:PUI and deleting them, but IIRC it was suggested that there was no need to delete the photos of ancient artworks, as they were mechanical reproductions of public domain images. Do with the Isis images what you think best. -- Infrogmation 16:38, 31 October 2005 (UTC)

Continued vandalism from IP 213.166.17.25

Further to your comment on 213.166.17.25's talk page on 18 Oct, this vandal is continuing to carry out childish, homophobic vandalism. As an admin, are you able to take any further action? Thanks, CLW 09:50, 2 November 2005 (UTC)

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. Reblocked. -- Infrogmation 17:45, 3 November 2005 (UTC)

Turkey in the Straw

Hi, Infrogmation. I just noticed that you reverted the edits to the "Turkey in the Straw" article that were made by an anonymous user 4.235.90.172. The anon seems to have deleted some information that should probably have stayed, but the bulk of the new information seemed pretty good. Was it copyvio? Or should we try to merge some of it back? —BrianSmithson 20:44, 3 November 2005 (UTC)

Eeep. I reverted on the basis of the anon's last edit, which removed some wikilinks. I see now that some of their edits were reasonable additions. Yes, I suppose merging versions is appropriate. -- Infrogmation 22:21, 3 November 2005 (UTC)
No worries. I've merged them. —BrianSmithson 03:39, 4 November 2005 (UTC)
Thanks! Cheers, -- Infrogmation 04:39, 4 November 2005 (UTC)

Not orphan images

Thanks for deorphantagging Image:USRegalRecord1Big.jpg. In the future, please stick the notorphan template on such pages as it will prevent such confusion. Thanks! --Gmaxwell 05:53, 7 November 2005 (UTC)
