Wikipedia:Sister projects
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.
This article is part of the Wikipedia Manual of Style.
These templates are designed to provide article-to-article linking between Wikipedia and its Wikimedia sister projects.
Wikipedia encourages links to sister projects and interlanguage links when possible. However, links to sister projects should not be used excessively.
Link to sister projects should be placed under the See also or External links sections of the article.

General considerations
- These are template boxes with graphical logos. To link sister projects using traditional inline text links see Wikipedia:Interwikimedia link.
Guidelines
If sister project name is Foo:
- {{Move to Foo}} - move to foo
- {{Foo}} - article in Foo with same title is about the same topic.
- {{Foopar|Pagename}} - Pagename in Foo is about the same topic.
- par is used generally in the template name to point to a concrete page name in a sister project (i.e. {{wikiquotepar|somepage}}).

Wiktionary
Pages needing to be moved:
Links to pages on the Wiktionary site:
- Box format
- Template:Wiktionary (uses PAGENAME and generates a search rather than linking directly to a page — because Wiktionary article titles are fully case sensitive, this may not yield the desired result)
- Template:Wiktionarypar (uses parameter as in {{Wiktionarypar|SomePage}})
- Template:Wiktionarypar2 (uses 2 parameters as in {{Wiktionarypar2|Page1|Page2}})
- Template:Wiktionarypar3 (uses 3 parameters as in {{Wiktionarypar3|Page1|Page2|Page3}})
- Template:Wi (uses PAGENAME), used for dictionary definitions
- To define a word in-line with other text, create an interwiki link in the format: [[wiktionary:SomeWord|definition of SomeWord]].

Wikinews
Moving pages to Wikinews is not possible, for legal reasons. (Copying material to Wikinews would put it under the CC-BY license, which violates the GFDL.)
Links to pages on the Wikinews site:
- Box format
- Template:Wikinews (uses a parameter as in {{Wikinews|SomeArticleTitle}})
- Template:Wikinewscat (uses parameter as in {{Wikinewscat|SomeCategoryTitle}})
- To link in-line with other text, create an interwiki link in the format: [[Wikinews:SomeArticleTitle|reference to the Wikinews article]].

Text Shortcut links
The following should be used sparingly since they are not guaranteed to remain in use and they make the wikitext harder to read than the full versions:
- w:Example links to Wikipedia
- b:Example links to Wikibooks
- q:Example links to Wikiquote
- wikt:Example links to Wiktionary
- m:Example links to Meta-Wiki
- n:Example links to Wikinews
