Cooper Lake & Parks
Located 20 miles southwest of Paris on the South Sulphur River, this 23,000 acre lake has been designed to be the future "HOTTEST FISHING LAKE IN TEXAS." In addition, it will be home to the Texas Cultural Center featuring an amphitheater for outdoor dramas, a 1930's working farm, a Caddo Indian Village, and a museum of Northeast Texas. Deport
Deport was originally christened "Deeville" for Col. Dee thompson, but inhabitants persisted in associating it with the devil so the exasperated Thompson family changed the name to Deport.

Located 15 miles southeast of Paris along U. S. Highway 271 and partically in Red River County, it's main agriculture crops are cotton, corn, wheat, soy beans and milo.

Attractions include the American Legion Post #199, a public park and walking track with a large pavillion for reunions and picnics.

Deport is noted for its high sidewalks which were built in response to the constant floods that came with every rain. In 1982, a dike was finally built to protect the town from the ravages of Mustang Creek.

Historical sites are compiled in a book available for $10 at City Hall.

Reno
Over 2,500 people reside in Reno located just east of Paris on US Highway 82. Incorporated in 1966, the slogan "People and Progress" is proven by the new businesses built in Reno in the past few years.

Attractions include a recreation park and an auction held at the M & M Auction every second and fourth Saturday night.

Noted for quiet country living.

Roxton
The orginal spelling of the name was "Rockstown," referring to the white limestone rock which underlay the foundations of the town.

Located 15 minutes southwest of Paris along lovely rolling hills which lend themselves to challenging cycling tours.

The main induatry is agriculture (grain).

A "bedroom community" of Paris, Roxton boasts an excellent school system.

Annual events include a Fourth of July Picnic and fireworks celebration, a Christmas parade and town garage sales.
