U.S. Highway 32

U.S. Highway 32, or US-32, is an early (1926) designation of an east-west highway between Chicago, Illinois and Council Bluffs, Iowa. Throughout most of its route, that is, its entirety west of Joliet, Illinois, the designation disappeared as U.S. Highway 6 was extended westward over the route of old US-32. Illinois preserved the designation US-32 for a Joliet-Chicago route (not to be confused with U.S. Highway 66) for a few years before renumbering the highway as Illinois State Highway 7.

US-32 never had any "child" routes, and the US route number was never reassigned to any other highway.
