Thanksgiving Day: Hike to Rogers Rock
Santa Rita Mountains
Betsy and I are back to leading hikes in the Tucson area. This will be our 12th year of leading, which seems hard to believe.
Recently we led a hike up, around, and down Brown Mountain in the Tucson Mountain Range. From the vantage point of the ridgetop, we could all see the Santa Rita Mountains in the distance—40 miles as the Raven flies.

Fellow hiker Cindy Little took the above photo of the Santa Rita Mountains from the top of Brown Mountain. What a beautiful shot!
Today we are leading a hike to Rogers Rock in the Santa Rita Mountains. You can see the marker on the above map.
This is the view we will have from the top of Rogers Rock - Mt Wrightson, the hightest point in the Santa Ritas at 9,456' elevation. I have been up there 3 times and have no plans to return.
When we get back from the hike we will have our Thanksgiving Dinner. But this time there will be no turkey out of the oven.
A humble meal made more tasty with a nice garden salad a la Betsy and a few beers.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Mike and Betsy
p.s. Here are some photos from my hike to Rogers Rock on 18 December 2019.
